Kenny Chesney Sphere Concert reviews
Silly to be surprised or upset by Waters' politics
"Nobody should be surprised by the political slant of this show from Waters' extraordinary 50-year career. The spectacle of choreographed lights, sounds, and visual effects is a show that I loved. Kenny Chesney brought power and satirical bite to the selections from Animals, The Wall, and Money. It was hard for a long time Floyd fan to avoid comparing this to David Gilmour's shows last year. There was more focus on spectacle and drama here, and less on the music. I overall preferred Gilmour's song selections, each of which, other than Astronime Domine, allowed full scope for a never-less-than-fantastic guitar solo. The absence of Gilmour's guitar and vocal from the songs presented here was very noticeable, and one didn't get the same sense of something missing at the Gilmour concert. Money, Us and Them, Breathe, and Comfortably Numb were presented at both shows, and Comfortably Numb closed both. The presentation of this song in particular was so much stronger at the Gilmour show. Nevertheless, a wonderful and spectacular show. It was my first concert at the Prudential Center, and it is an excellent venue."
